Mike Irr is an expert in performance training, having worked with athletes of all ages and experience. A firm believer in functional and sport specific training, Mike’s talent in coaching and program design earned him five successful seasons as strength and conditioning coach for two NBA teams – the Charlotte Bobcats and Chicago Bulls. Along with his professional experience, Mike has worked with college and high school athletes in both a team and individual setting - creating individualized programs designed specifically for each athlete. His career started at the University of Connecticut, where he not only earned a degree in exercise science, but also dedicated a majority of his time to working with the country’s best NCAA athletes, including men’s and women’s basketball, football, and soccer, as a student strength coach.
In recent years, Mike decided to expand his skill-set to physical therapy and went back to school to pursue a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. He currently attends the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a candidate to graduate in 2015. Mike is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), with whom he is also a member, along with the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
